San Francisco Politics, Perfectly Summed Up By a 5 Year Old Cartoon.

Given the level of stupidity political discourse has taken in San Francisco, on all sides, I found this 5 year old cartoon by some cartoonist named "Mark Stivers" to be unusually insightful into the kinds of choices we have....exhibit "A" being that joke of a Mayoral election we just had. Enjoy!

Advances in Technology...The USB Humping Dog!

Decades of scientific advancement, advances in computer technology, and the miracle of USB ports all combined to give us...the USB Humping Dog!

Best of all you can choose which color you like. Once again, all those old gag gifts can be recycled for the 21st century, just like all those bad jokes people used to copy and fax from office to office can be transmitted instantly via the Interwebs at the speed of life.

O Brave New World, indeed! :-)

More Fun with Ron Paul: RP08 Fans in the "Fansub" Community Once Again Put SF "Progressives" To Shame

Give credit where credit is due - the Ron Paul supporters once again show what self-starters they are in this screenshot. For the uninitiated, this a screenshot from Tokyo Toshokan, a directory of websites offering bittorrent files for "fansubs" (Japanese television programs and other media not yet licensed into the US market).

Here, someone has posted a number of files and changed the "Fansub" group name to "RonPaul2008" so anyone searching for this particular program (a show on Japanese television called Dennou Coil, which is actually quite good) will see a short message on behalf of Dr. Paul's candidacy.

Once again, the self reliance and self-starting creativity of Ron Paul supporters shows up, shaming San Francisco's "progressives" for their total lack of ability to organize this past year in the Mayoral race, etc.

You'd think that in such an allegedly liberal town, the many, many gossipers, staffers, self-proclaimed Important Progressives, and others would self-start in the way the Paul supporters do, but I guess it's much easier to sit around and complain about Gavin and Nancy and waste time on nonsense than it is to do something.

Translation after the jump - please read before flaming!

Today, I'm playing a prank on myself and trying to boost my Google Ads by talking about the most popular dude on the planet, Dr. Ron Paul.

Now don't get me wrong, I am glad that someone with his plain-spoken style, and his views, as an actual Republican who actually believes in limited government and taxes, is getting his message out and getting people not normally into politics to take an active role in the elections this year.

To me it's no different than when Dr. Dean, Gov. Jerry Brown, or any one of a number of populist candidates harnessed frustration, hope and idealism to try and make a difference. I do think that Dr. Paul is lucky in that nowadays people can communicate and network with each other around town and around the country easily and cheaply. This has facilitated many supporter driven movements, such as his now famous "5th of November" one-day fundraiser that raised like, a zillion dollars in one day.

So, that said, today I thought I'd have a little light hearted, not-attacking-Dr. Paul fun and write my post entirely in the words "Ron Paul" to see what happens to my Google ranking. Don't flame me , please - I knew about Ron Paul back in 1988 when he ran as the Libertarian candidate, and I even have a stash of Paul for President (and even an Ed Clark for President in 1980!) campaign memoribilia, right next to my box of Anderson/Lucey brochures and buttons.

Enjoy the fun, and remember - Ron Paul!

*and don't forget Ross Perot in 1992!
